Tortuga Lodge and Gardens

Set along the Tortuguero River, this cool, laid-back hotel is accessible only by boat and is across the river from Tortuguero Airport. Airy rooms have rustic-chic decor and feature balconies or terraces with river views. They also come with Wi-Fi, safes and ceiling fans. Suites add sitting areas; 1 has a 4-poster bed and a separate living room. There are no TVs or air conditioning. Amenities include a bar and an open-air restaurant set next to the river. There’s also an outdoor lagoon-style pool. Boat tours and excursions can be arranged.
